For teeth severely damaged by decay, gum disease or fracture or impacted such as partially erupted wisdom teeth we offer stress free dental extractions. While we always endeavour to restore your tooth with dental restorations, crowns or other solutions, sometimes an extraction is necessary.
The removal of teeth under local anaesthetic is a common procedure. In very difficult or complicated cases we may advise your extraction under the care of an Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon, in which a referral will be provided.
We understand that tooth extraction can be extremely stressful and overwhelming for some patients. Right from the beginning, we will explain all procedures, results and risks thoroughly. You then have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like to ensure that you’re completely comfortable. Even after extraction, we strongly recommend that you call our practice should any questions pop up at any time.
For some dental extractions, conscious sedation with Nitrous Oxide (“Happy Gas”) is recommended to comfortably complete the procedure. There are generally minimal risks and complications associated with conscious sedation. We will explain the entire procedure with you before commencement.
